Meisonilan to Supply Control Valves for Angola LNG Project
2021-02-13

Angola LNG Project has selected Meisonilan to supply the required control valves. Meisonilan signed the contract with Bechtel's Oil, Gas & Chemicals Global Business Unit, which is responsible for the design, procurement, and construction of the onshore part of the natural gas project.

The project is located in Soyo, a coastal area in the northern part of Zaire Province, Angola. The liquefied natural gas plant will produce liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquefied petroleum gas (such as propane and butane), condensates, and pipeline natural gas for civil use, with an annual output of approximately 6.8 billion cubic meters (5.2 million tons). As the largest sole-investment project in Angola's history, construction began at the start of this year and is expected to start production in early 2012.

Meisonilan will provide a variety of general-purpose control valves for the project, including 21000 Series/41005 Series straight-through valves and 350002 Series Camflex® II eccentric rotary valves, to meet different application requirements across the plant. The first batch of valves is scheduled for delivery in the summer of 2009.

The industry-leading Camflex valve is an original "universal" control valve, featuring a low-friction eccentric plug that provides excellent regulating performance in an extremely compact structure. The 21000 Series top-guided control valve can be matched with various trim, actuators, and instrumentation solutions, making it one of the most versatile single-seat control valves on the market today. The 41005 Series cage-guided control valve can effectively handle complex operating conditions, such as applications with high pressure drops and severe temperature changes.

In addition, Meisonilan's on-site engineers will leverage their product expertise and knowledge in control system design to assist Bechtel's engineers in valve selection and specification confirmation. Once the plant is operational, Meisonilan's world-class global after-sales service and support network will provide comprehensive post-commissioning maintenance for the project.

"The Angola LNG Project will position Angola as an international natural gas producer," said Jorge Mendez, Vice President of Global Sales for Meisonilan and Consolidated. "We are pleased that our control valve solutions will ensure the project achieves maximum productivity with high efficiency and safety."

The plant is owned by Angola LNG Limited, a joint venture consisting of Sonangol (22.8%), Chevron (36.4%), Total (13.6%), BP (13.6%), and Eni (13.6%).
